Could The Root Canal Be A Thing Of The Past?

This is a response to “The End Of Root Canals” – By Coby McDonald on Popular Science
I found a really great article on Popular Science from Coby McDonald about the possible ending of root canals. It looks like the studies are still in early development, but this could be a game changer for dentistry.

If dentists had the ability to regrow your tooth instead of just filling in the damaged spots with synthetic material, our teeth would potentially be healthier and last longer throughout our life! In the blog article Adam Celiz says that “10 to 15 percent of those fillings fail” which leads to patients needing root canals. Root canals are expensive. This is just a study, so I am not sure how much the end product will cost if they ever perfect the treatment. But I hope they do because re-growing my own teeth sounds much better! I don’t want to get a root canal!

You can access the Popular Science article here.

If it has been a while since your last appointment or you think you have a cavity, you should schedule an appointment today. A cavity that continues to eat into your teeth can go so deep that  you will likely have to get a root canal in order to fix it. It’s better to get the cavity checked out in the early stages.
